For those who would like to do an online degree in librarianship but cannot afford the fees, it would be great for the industry if colleges offered the option to take modules and short certificate courses, which, when added together, would give degree certification.
Implementation:
There could be an option to take single modules of a college course, studying each one in turn until it amounted to a degree qualification. And if the student only studied one module, they could still get a certificate.
CILIP's role:
CILIP's role might simply be to advocate for this, using its voice to speak on this issue at conferences and meetings.
